Key Themes
I have found three key themes of learning throughout my experience in the MSET program. These include reflective thinker, risk taker and ed tech leader. Each theme is outlined below with a summary, aligned program goals and objectives, and correlating products from coursework.
#1 Reflective Thinker
Summary
Being a reflective thinker means considering the larger meaning and impact of an experience. Courses throughout the MSET program have allowed me to establish a consistent practice of reflective thinking. This has been important throughout course projects and current teaching practices. Specifically, the course projects have allowed me to consider the purpose and implications beyond the set of tasks. I have developed the skills to evaluate and use current educational research throughout the action research project. Additionally, the instructional design project has given me exposure to learning theories and the principles of instructional decision making. Lastly, the weekly reflection blog has provided me with an example of the benefit of consistent reflection for my current teaching position. MSET Objectives

#2 Risk Taker
Summary
The MSET program has pushed me to be a risk taker through learning new skills and fostering creativity. I have learned how to integrate multimedia into curriculum design and instruction through several multimedia projects, the development of a student Nearpod lesson, and the Chasing Einstein website development. Additionally, I have learned the fundamentals of coding with Scratch and Code HS which have provided me with knowledge and experience to integrate programming languages into the classroom. Ultimately, these experiences have pushed me to look for new opportunities to explore creativity and curiosity which will also encourage students to take innovative risks. MSET Objectives

#3 Ed Tech Leader
Summary
As stated in my philosophy, I had not recognized my role of an ed tech leader through my position as a content teacher until gaining experiences in the MSET program that have promptly carried over to my current teaching position. The MSET program has given me a broad understanding of technology's impact on education, awareness of the numerous organizations supporting ed tech, and my ability to teach others about tech resources for educational purposes. Specifically, the leadership and innovation project pushed me to share my experience with others as I presented at a faculty Lunch and Learn session. Likewise, my distance education position paper provided me with a thorough understanding of traditional classroom instructional strategies that transfer well into an online learning platform. These experiences have provided a firm foundation for continuing to share my knowledge and insight of the ed tech environment with current colleagues and other educators. MSET Objectives
